Doves Wings, a place of security, love and care...

ChinaHeart has long had a vision for small foster homes caring for children in China. We have known that this will happen, but the timing had top be right, not just when we thought it was a good move. The opening of a foster home named Doves Wings is also a vision one of our team came to China with in 2006, and now after 4 years of language studies and gaining more insights into the Chinese culture, she is seeing this vision come to fruition.

After a visit to a nearby orphanage she was really challenged by the babies who need special care and the fact that the carers in the orphanage, although they are doing an excellent job in many ways, just do not have the time and resources to give some sick babies the extra care they need.

One such baby is Avery, less than 6 months old and in need of heart surgery. Avery should not have this surgery until she has gained enough weight to ensure she will survive the operation. But her little heart labours so hard that she is too exhausted to eat enough to gain the extra weight and in fact is already underweight for her age. Without the extra care to ensure she gets the right amount of nutrition she will die.

One of our team recently said “I dream that I can open a foster home for babies like Avery… I would like to be able to bring in and give them the love, nurture, nutrition and attention they need to gain full health, then if at all possible get them onto the adoption list so that they will find their forever family".

We know this can happen. We believe this is a vision we were given and our team members are ready for the hard work that is needed to see this happen. This is the right time and we have stepped forward into the vision we have been given. We can help these little ones to obtain the life and love they deserve to have. They have been given to us for a purpose, and we have a passion to ensure they achieve that purpose.

Doves Wings opened in May 2010 and we believe that like our other projects we will see lives changed and impacted through the love and care the children will experience there.
